Shum Hok Kiu, Cindy

Shum Hok Kiu, Cindy is an artist based in Hong Kong and the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, where is known as Vancouver. Her art primarily focuses on painting, exploring uncertainty and the connection between individuals and their environment, particularly themes of place-belonging and displacement. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, literature, and pop culture, Shum creates place-based series that convey a sense of alienation by simplifying scenes and objects from photographs into abstract shapes and forms. 

Shum obtained her BA (Hons.) in Visual Arts from Hong Kong Baptist University in 2023 and is currently pursuing her MFA at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Canada. Her works have been exhibited in Hong Kong, Canada and South Korea.

沈學翹是一位現居香港及溫哥華的藝術家，主要專注於繪畫創作。她的作品致力於探索不確定性，以及個體與其所處環境之間的微妙聯繫，尤以「地方歸屬感」與「位移」為核心命題。沈氏從日常所處的環境、文學及流行文化中汲取靈感，創作以地點為基礎的系列作品，透過簡化照片中的場景與物件為抽象形狀與形式，轉化出一種靜謐而疏離的空間感。

​沈氏於2023年獲香港浸會大學視覺藝術榮譽文學士學位，現正於加拿大艾蜜莉卡藝術與設計大學攻讀藝術碩士課程。她的作品曾於香港、加拿大及南韓展出。
